Number Formats
By default, number fields are displayed as you enter them. You
can, however, give both number and currency fields any of the following
standard formats, which you select from their Format property lists
:
|
General Number
|
The default selection. The number
is displayed as entered. |
|
Currency
|
Includes a dollar sign in front of
the number (or another currency symbol), and displays negative
numbers in parentheses. Two decimal places are displayed, and
a comma (or other separator) is used to separate every three
digits. |
|
Fixed
|
Displays at least one digit. Two decimal
places are displayed if the Decimal Places property is not changed. |
|
Standard
|
Uses a comma (or other separator)
to separate every three digits, and two decimal places are displayed
if the Decimal Places property is not changed. |
|
Percent
|
Displays the value as a percentage.
This involves multiplying it by 100 and adding a percent sign.
For example, 1 is displayed as 100% and .5 is displayed as 50%. |
|
Scientific
|
Displays the value in scientific notation,
as a number between zero and ten multiplied by some power of
10. |
Some of these formats include a comma or some other separator between
every three digits. The comma is used as separator in the United
States, but other characters are used in other countries. By default,
Access uses the separator specified in the Windows Regional Settings
Window, which you can display by going to My Computer - Control
Panel - Regional Settings.
