Disadvantages of using indexes
When you enter or edit data, Access automatically updates indexes,
and it takes a tiny amount of time to update each. If you have a
few indexes, you do not notice the time it takes to update them.
Updating occurs more quickly than you can type. If you have a large
number of indexes in a table with many records, however, the time
it takes to update them can slow down Access enough to make you
wait as you do data entry.
For this reason, you should create indexes for only those fields
that are the basis of finds, queries, and sorts that you use frequently.
