A method of database design
Creating a paper design first has several advantages:
- it provides a guide to follow when defining the database
- it maximizes your system's reliability by helping you catch potential
problems for users entering or editing data
- it serves as a blueprint for discussion
- it prevents problems, helps in estimating cost and size, and saves
time and money later
How do you know whether or not the design will work?
A properly designed database:
- solves the problem
- contains accurate, reliable data
- meets the users' needs and is easy to use
