Here are few key things to remember to protect yourself from
cyber-terrorism and hackers:
| 1. |
All accounts should have passwords and the passwords
should be unusual, difficult to guess. |
| |
|
| 2. |
Use both letters and numbers when choosing passwords,
they are harder to get. |
| |
|
| 3. |
Change passwords from time to time. |
| |
|
| 4. |
Do not e-mail passwords to people!!! Exchange
confidential information in person. |
| |
|
| 5. |
Change the network configuration when defects
become known. |
| |
|
| 6. |
Check with vendors for upgrades and patches. In
computing, a patch is a software update meant to fix problems
with a computer program. |
| |
|
| 7. |
Audit systems and check logs to help in detecting
and tracing an intruder. |
| |
|
| 8. |
If you are ever unsure about the safety of a site,
or receive suspicious email from an unknown address, don't access
it. It could be trouble. |
